2007 - Coast Forest
Management Ltd., in partnership with Timberedge
Inc., have been approved to conduct a feasibility
study relating to the utilization of waste wood
biomass reserves (such as the mountain pine beetle
epidemic) for the development of alternative energy/biofuels
solutions. The study has been approved through
the First Nations Forestry Program, a partnership
program jointly funded by Natural Resources Canada
and Indian & Northern Affairs Canada. Project
partners involved include: Esh-kn-am Investments
joint venture, Green
Energy Solutions Inc. (GES), and the
Aboriginal Forest Industries Council. Research
has already commenced and we look forward to sharing
the potential beneficial results and developing
opportunities with First Nations member groups
upon conclusion of the study.

on its 2007 Forest Stewardship Plan. This plan
covers two cutblocks in the East Alberni Inlet

Coast Forest Management Ltd. and the Tseshaht
First Nation joined forces. The Tseshaht First
Nation purchases a 30% equity share in Coast Forest
Management.

"The
current softwood lumber dispute (Lumber IV)
commenced in April of 2001. From May 22, 2002
to Dec 20, 2004 most Canadian softwood lumber
exported to the US was subject to a combined
countervailing and anti-dumping duty of 27%,
collected by US Customs. From December 20, 2004
to December 12, 2005 the duties collected were
20%. On December 12, 2005, the duties collected
at the border were reduced to 10.81%."
